- You are using the Dynamics CRM 2011 Outlook 2007 Client and receive the error "There was a problem reading one or more of your reminders. Some reminders may not appear. You cannot sort this column." when opening Outlook.
- You no longer receive reminders for your existing or new appointments.
- Client is running Windows Vista or Windows 7
SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:
A recent Microsoft update (KB2583910) caused this issue to occur. Install the hotfix provided here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2553028
You will need to re-start your computer after installing the hotfix.
OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
You will need to re-start your computer after installing the hotfix.
OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
- Uninstall the offending update and use the Clean Reminders command line switch to open Outlook:
- Close outlook and wait up to thirty seconds for it to close fully.
- Uninstall the hotfix mentioned above (KB2583910) using Programs and Features (be sure to click "View Installed Updates" in the sidebar).
- Go into Windows Update and exclude that update from re-installing. To do this, go to Windows Update, click "Check for Updates" in the sidebar and click on the link that says "x important update is available". Find update "Update for Office Outlook 2007 (KB2583910)" in the list, right click and select "Hide Update". Note: this update is not an important one, you are unlikely to need it unless you live in China or India.
- You may need to re-start your computer after the update uninstalls.
- Open Outlook using the command line "outlook.exe /cleanreminders". The easiest way to use this command line is to click START and type it in the search box as shown here: http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/commandlineswitches.htm. This site also provides an excellent reference to all Outlook command line switches. If opening Outlook this way does not work, you may need to use the command line interface. Refer to "How to Use Switches" on the Office website here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/command-line-switches-HP001003110.aspx. Alternatively you can try the following switches instead: "outlook.exe /resetfolders", "outlook.exe /cleansniff" or "outlook.exe /cleanroamedprefs".

- If you do not have CRM 2011 installed, the problem may be resolved simply by closing and re-opening Outlook using the command line switch shown above - that is, without having to uninstall the update.
- Your PST or OST files might be corrupt. Use scanpst.exe or scanost.exe to repair.
- If could simply be a problem with a single appointment. Try deleting the last few appointments and re-start Outlook. If this works, re-create the appointments again. If you still have problems, it may be with an older, reoccurring appointment. This site has the best advice on finding a single corrupt entry: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080211120020AAEVF5r
- If you recently upgraded Outlook versions, you could have two duplicate PST files open. Go to account settings and see if the datafile is shown twice. If so, remove one entry and re-start Outlook. Solution found here: http://www.office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php/m/480335/
- You may have accidentally moved a reminder out of the calendar/tasks folder and into another folder. Move it back. Solution found here: http://www.outlookpower.com/issues/issue200605/00001768002
- If none of these work, call Microsoft Support, as it could be some hitherto unknown thing that will commit you to an insane asylum if you try to figure it out alone.
